Hospital and coming home!

Our first morning home
Heading home from the hospital

I LOVE my daddy!

I am aware these posted backward. I uploaded them in order, I promise...

Willa Caroline is here!

On Friday, March 27, 2009, I went in to my doctor appointment at 10:15 am. My blood pressure was high, so they admitted me to do a 24 hour observation. In the meantime, Willa was on her way! At 6 pm my contractions got stronger and became about 5 minutes apart. We made the move to Labor and Delivery around 9:30 pm. Willa arrived Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 4:51am. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She is a beautiful happy baby who LOVES her daddy! Here are some pictures!

Still pregnant

So after a week and a half of contractions, though mild, I am still at 2 cm. And the doctor I saw this week (it changes since we're military and see whoever we get) was none too enthusiastic about the fact that I was actually a full 2 cm...so that a bit frustrating. I will be 39 weeks tomorrow, and next week I will start thinking about induction if she is not here by her due date next Friday, March 27. She is just fat and happy in there and sees no immediate reason so leave. This should be expected, as her parents are both quite stubborn and she has a daddy who tends to procrastinate. :)

I spend most of my days lately trying to freeze meals and walk, but usually tend to find myself asleep. These contractions happen all night, so I don't get much rest when the rest of the world does...which is probably good preparation for my near future with a baby!

Switching gears: My mom flies in Sunday! Trevor drives up from his Charleston trip on Monday! Then Lucia visits on the 1st!

38 plus weeks

So I have been home for a little over a week now. On Friday, I was 38 weeks. There has been a lot going on in the belly and I found out last week I am 2cm and 70% effaced. I feel like I am more now after nights of cramps and back pain (all normal), but then it stops and we start all over the next evening. I have to say, I LOVE being pregnant! Well, I did until about 2 weeks ago. I am ready to be a mommy, to meet our baby, and start losing these pounds! Kyle is also ready to meet his baby girl and still hopes she will be a St. Patrick's Day baby, but I am not so sure. I have a feeling I will be at my next OB appointment on Thursday...

Nesting

My last day of teaching was Friday, March 6, when I was 37 weeks pregnant. When the school day was over, I had a doctor's appointment. Kyle met me there. I have stopped gaining weight (thank God) to the same extent that I had been, blood pressure is good, baby's heartbeat is in the 120s (good), and she is still head down. The doctor got out the ultrasound machine to look at her and she is ready to go! She is about 7 1/2 pounds and growing! Very active, too.

I started this new week as a housewife-stay-at-home-mommy-to-be by cleaning half the house (it really needed it after months of my being too tired to move after school). I also am in the process of making 3 meals to freeze this week so we have some good food after we bring home our baby girl. Today, I made black beans and rice. It smells so good that I am tempted to get it back out for dinner...

I think the dogs are confused as to why I am here all day, though. They keep going in and out of the house like I should leave while they do their "thing" outside as the neighborhood police...
